The John Miazdzyk Award

John Miazdzyk — The heart and soul of Canadian Arm Wrestling

· Awards,Championships,Arm Wrestling,Champions Heroes

John founded the Canadian Arm Wrestling Association in 1976, two years later he hosted the first Canadian National Championship in Alberta. He is one of the founding members of the World Armwrestling Federation, in 1979 he hosted the first World Championship in Alberta.

In 1989 John passed away at the young age of 40. Since his passing, "...this annual award is given out in his memory to someone that personifies dedication to the sport." ~ The Canadian Armwrestling Federation

This award is voted on by the CAWF board of directors and in 2015, I was one of their recipients. In fact our Vancouver Arm Wrestling Club has four recipients of this award... this is unheard of.

2015 was very busy for me - Maintaining my personal life, working, organising the Nationals and of course training. It was a year I will never forget as I was able to host the Canadian championships which was challenging in itself and I won two gold medals in this competition.

"There are many great arm wrestlers in Canada and it was an honour to get this award." ~ Clayton Faulconer
